Meet Our Team

Lead Climber

Alex Morray.heic

Alex Morray

Alex has worked in the tree industry for over 15 years.  He began working as a groundsman and quickly progressed to being a contract climber for several Front Range tree companies.  His attention to detail and knowledge of tree anatomy and pathophysiology allow him to give each branch the care it needs while moving through the canopy.  Alex loves the creativity, focus, and athleticism that tree climbing requires.  Before learning the trade of arborculture, Alex worked for the Forest Service for several years as a wildland firefighter and currently works as a firefighter for a Denver-area fire department.

Meet the Brothers Behind the Work

Andrew and Alex are twin brothers who have built their lives, and this business, side by side. With over 15 years of experience each in the tree industry, they bring a rare combination of technical skill, shared intuition, and deep-rooted passion for caring for Colorado’s urban forest. Their journey has taken them from wildland firefighting to professional arboriculture, shaping a work ethic grounded in safety, precision, and service. Together, they’re committed to helping clients care for their trees while building lasting relationships within the community.

Andrew has worked in forestry and the tree industry for over 15 years, serving as a groundsman, climber, subcontractor and finally owning his own company.  Throughout that time, his focus has always been on making the urban forest a safer, more beautiful, and healthier place for people to enjoy.  He loves connecting with people through their trees and helping them navigate the many challenges trees present.  When Andrew isn't working with the trees, he loves sharing his love for the outdoors with his wife and daughter through skiing, biking and rock climbing.  He also spent 5 years working as a wildland firefighter for the Forest Service and currently serves as a Paramedic with a Denver-area fire department.

OUR ROOTS RUN DEEP

"I grew up in Oregon and discovered arboriculture after college, combining my background in wildland firefighting and rock climbing into a lifelong passion for tree care. After 15 years in the field, I’ve learned that trees are more than just part of the landscape; they’re living systems that connect us to our environment. Through that, I discovered the joy and connection that I gained from of taking care of these trees around us.

My twin brother Alex and I started Common Roots Tree Care to serve Colorado’s Front Range with a focus on knowledge, safety, and stewardship. We help homeowners understand and care for their trees throughout every stage of life; from planting and pruning to preservation and safe removal."

At Common Roots Tree Care, our mission is simple: Help Colorado’s trees thrive while keeping people and their property safe.

Founded by twin brothers with roots in firefighting and climbing, we bring a unique blend of skill, safety, and respect for trees to every project. Our services include pruning, removals, stump grinding, and tree health consultations, all centered on longevity, education, and solutions tailored to Colorado’s one-of-a-kind environment.

The Front Range can be a challenging place for trees. Many species aren’t native and struggle with drought, poor soil, and harsh weather. That’s why we focus on helping our clients give their trees the best possible start, and a long, healthy life, through thoughtful care, proactive maintenance, and risk reduction.
